A feed is a function of special software that allows feed readers to access a site, automatically looking for new content and then posting the information about new content and updates to another site. This provides a way for users to keep up with the latest information posted on different blogging sites.
WordPress RSS Feeds
RSS (often dubbed Really Simple Syndication) is a family of web feed formats used to publish frequently updated works – such as blog entries, news headlines, audio, and video – in a standardized format. An RSS document (which is called a “feed”) includes full or summarized text, plus metadata such as publishing date & authorship. That’s the tech speak version. The Neil version goes like this; You want to Ping your blog post article, to get your content indexed faster by the search engine.

WordPress RSS Feeds Plug-in
For years, I have been using a WordPress Plug-in called smart udate pinger. I chose to use this plug-in by reading dozens of SEO Blogs on the topic of “how to ping your blog post article” the easy way. As you compose your blog post article, you don’t want to keep pinging your article during the editing phase. This could get your site whacked for over-pinging your article and you don’t want that to happen. With this WordPress RSS Feeds plug-in, you don’t have to worry about it. Smart Update Pinger will only ping your article once you hit the publish button vs. the many times we hit the update button – this is very important to make note of.
WordPress RSS Feeds URL List
Once a week, I inspect my site stats and see how many new backlinks and the PR of the backlinks I got during the week. In the course of doing so, I look at the output file of my WordPress RSS Feeds URL list to see if there are any errors or snags.
